Horse Creek Love
The land my parents bought.
The cabin they built.
A weekend of play,
A place the family would stay.
Hiking the trails,
The deer tails,
Shining white,
while the antlers shook on the males.
Coming home to tell the tales.
Fishing the creek,
Snook we would seek.
Remove the hook please.
I’m on my knees,
and about to wheeze.
Alligators surround,
their mating sounds pound.
In our canoe,
we would look around,
To make sure we wouldn’t drown.
Family dinners,
Around the wooden table,
Each would tell a fable.
Love and laughter would enrapture.
In the cabin my parents built.
