The Art
of a Journey

Janet Sherr, Artist

Poetry has been a constant form of expression throughout my life. I am now fortunate to celebrate what I’ve learned through the years by giving these poems a new visual life with paint on canvas, wood, or paper.

My life has been a rich tapestry of experiences, from mother, poet, and teacher to trial lawyer, airport director, and government official. After a long and successful career, I turned my focus entirely to art, a practice I love. The movement I once taught to young children—the subject of my book, The Discipline of Movement: An Enrichment to Early Childhood Education—now finds a new life on the canvas.

My paintings are a reflection of this journey, a fusion of my passion for poetry and a lifetime of channeling emotion through various expressions. I continue to enhance my technique by studying under a number of artists, who inspire my passion for expression.

Thanks to all who have been a part of my artistic journey, and thank you for visiting my site. I am fortunate to work from two studios—one in Boca Raton, FL and one in Asheville, NC—each location inspiring a different facet of my creativity.
